It was sunny on Thursday in Blaine, Minnesota.

Boyd Summerhays’ calves were proof.

Summerhays is caddying this week for Tony Finau during the 3M Open. During Finau’s first round, from 7:30 a.m. local time to about noon on Thursday,  Summerhays, also Finau’s swing coach, covered all 7,431 yards of TPC Twin Cities. From 7:30 a.m. local time to about noon on Thursday, the sun covered all of Summerhays. Especially the uncovered parts.

On Thursday, Summerhays wore black shorts that fell just above his knees, and black socks that rose a few inches short.

On Friday, he wore the same combo. And red.

“Mark, can you see the glow on Boyd Summerhays’ legs from your perspective?” analyst Dottie Pepper asked on-course analyst Mark Immelman while Finau was setting up for a swing during Friday’s broadcast of the second round on Golf Channel.

“Yep, coach Boyd looking quite red right now, Dottie,” Immelman said. “We got to get him some sunscreen.”

“Oh my goodness,” analyst Nick Faldo added. “That will hurt. Oh, you lay down each night. That looks very pretty, very sexy. Very racy.”

As Finau and Summerhays approached the green, the Golf Channel showed a split screen of Thursday Summerhays and Friday Summerhays.

Left. Pale. Right. Red.

“OH,” Faldo shouted. “Oh, that’s brilliant. That is brilliant. What a difference a day makes.”
