The 2023 Ryder Cup is less than a month away, and Team Europe’s 12-man roster is now halfway solidified, with the final two automatic spots locking in after the Omega European Masters.

Heading into the tournament, four of the six automatic qualifying spots had already been claimed: Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm from the European Points List, and Viktor Hovland and Tyrrell Hatton from the World Points list.

With a T3 finish in Switzerland, Matt Fitzpatrick leapfrogged Tommy Fleetwood to claim the final spot on the World Points List. On the European Points side, Robert MacIntyre hung on to the final spot despite finishing T55.

That leaves European captain Luke Donald with some tough decisions to make on Monday, especially given young Swede Ludvig Aberg’s impressive play over the last two weeks, with a T4 at the Czech Masters and his maiden victory, fueled by a late birdie barrage, in Switzerland on Sunday.

The U.S. team’s six automatic qualifiers, Scottie Scheffler, Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman, Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa and Xander Schauffele were set at the conclusion of the BMW Championship. On Tuesday last week, U.S. captain Zach Johnson announced his six captain’s picks: Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler.

The Ryder Cup begins in Rome on September 29.
