The Shriners Children’s Open is already at the halfway point in Las Vegas, and there are plenty of big names in the hunt as we head into the weekend at TPC Summerlin.

Here are three things you need to know after Friday’s second-round play.

The leader

Fresh off a 0-2-1 record at the Presidents Cup, Mito Pereira is leading the Shriners after a sizzling second-round 63, which featured nine birdies and one bogey.

Pereira’s 12-under total gives him a one-shot advantage over his closest competitor, American Robby Shelton, and two shots on Tom Kim, Si Woo Kim and Maverick McNealy.

After a near miss earlier this year at the PGA Championship, Pereira is still seeking his maiden PGA Tour victory.

Who else is in the hunt?

There are a total of 25 players currently within five shots of the lead, which should lead to plenty of drama over the weekend. Notable contenders include Patrick Cantlay, Adam Hadwin and Max Homa, who are eight under par, and Stewart Cink, who is seven under.

Tano Goya, who made headlines on Friday after making into the field at the last possible minute and firing an opening round of 68, shot a 67 on Friday to sit at T17 heading into the weekend.

What about the other big names?

Two rounds of 70 resulted in a missed cut for Rickie Fowler, while Jason Day is five under through 36 holes after rounds of 66-71. He’s currently T38.

You can watch the Round 3 action on Golf Channel starting at 5 p.m. ET.
