RBC Heritage leaderboard: Who’s leading after Round 1

The scores were low in South Carolina, where a solid round of four-under 67 was only good enough to tie for tenth and 70 players posted a round under par. Here are three things you need to know after Thursday’s first round at Harbour Town.

Cameron Young leads

Twenty-four-year-old Cameron Young fired a sizzling round of eight-under 63 on Thursday to lead the tournament by two shots over Joaquin Niemann. Young is still seeking his first Tour victory, but has come close twice already this season, with runner-up finishes at the Genesis Invitational and the Sanderson Farms Championship.

Joaquin Niemann is lurking

Niemann continued the solid form he put on display while playing alongside Tiger Woods for the first two rounds at the Masters by opening with a six-under 65. He’s two shots back, and seeking his third career Tour victory.

Other big names are in the mix

Young will have his work cut out for him over the next three rounds, as he’s being trailed by some big names. Former RBC Heritage champ Graeme McDowell is three shots back, as is FedEx Cup champ Patrick Cantlay and Open champ Shane Lowry.
