Sunday marks a final round more than two years in the making at the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. A loaded leaderboard greets a field of many of the game’s finest players. Here’s what you need to know to watch all the action from TPC Sawgrass on Sunday.
Players Championship final round preview
Like all the great title fights, it’s time to add a roman numeral to end of Lee Westwood and Bryson DeChambeau’s names. After last weekend’s Sunday duel at Bay Hill, the unlikely adversaries are once again in the final pairing at the Players, setting the stage for Westwood-DeChambeau II. As for who will win the battle’s second iteration, Westwood enters with a significant (but no insurmountable) advantage. The 47-year-old pro heads into the final round clinging to a two-stroke lead over Bryson and the remainder of the field on Sunday.
DeChambeau, who is in the mix for his second victory in as many weeks, looks to lead the way to another monstrous performance on Sunday — though golf’s longest hitter is now finding himself careful to qualify that his distance exploits aren’t for everyone.
The final pairing will also have to ward off Justin Thomas, whose Sunday 64 leaves him three strokes off the lead and on the precipice of his first victory since last August.
Further back, Doug Ghim, Paul Casey and Jon Rahm will each try their best to mount a Sunday charge and unseat the names listed above.
