As the afternoon coverage wraps up on Day 1 of the U.S. Open, NBC coverage is passing the reigns onto Peacock to take the broadcast into the evening hours. If you’re wondering what Peacock is, you’re not alone.
Peacock is the new over-the-top streaming service launched by NBCUniversal earlier this summer. The programming of the service includes lots of free content, in addition to other movies and shows if you’re willing to ante up the subscription fee. And it’s also one of the many homes for NBC’s coverage of the U.S. Open.

Now for the bad news: The Peacock app is not available on Roku or Amazon Fire streaming devices. This will surely be a headache for the masses who rely on those two devices for all their streaming needs. But not all hope is lost — you can still stream the U.S. Open via their website.
It’s definitely not the perfect way to watch the event (oh, how we miss ESPN’s coverage of the PGA Championship), but as long as you’re willing to compromise on screen size, you shouldn’t be too bothered.
