Where the projected cut at the 2022 Open Championship stands now, pre-tournament favorites like Rory McIlroy, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Smith have all but secured their Old Course tee times for the weekend. But other star players at this 150th Open are not as fortunate, including the biggest of them all: Tiger Woods. Here’s what we know midday Friday with players still on the course.

The morning wave has mostly completed their second rounds on Friday at St. Andrews, and the afternoon wave is all on the course. Which means the projected cut is starting to come into focus.
Max Homa finally got to play with Tiger Woods, but it was no fluke
The Open Championship cut rules declare that the top 70 players (and ties) survive to play the weekend. Currently there is a large group of players tied at even par, 83 in all. But they are all tied for 68th right now, which makes the projected cut line even.
If nothing changes and the cut line remains at even, all 83 of them would make the cut and get to compete for the title in the third and final rounds.
Though there is still plenty of golf left to be played in the second round, several players are clearly on the outside looking in.

Woods finished off his second round around 10:30 a.m. ET Friday morning after an emotional walk down the 18th fairway with thousands of fans showering him with applause. With a 75 in Round 2 leaving him at nine over, Tiger will certainly miss the cut, which means that may have been the final Open round at St. Andrews, where he has won twice, in his illustrious career.
Tiger’s playing partner Max Homa finished at one over, as did 2010 St. Andrews Open champion Louis Oosthuizen. If the cut stays at even, both of them will be heading home early, too.
Several star players still on the course will have to battle to make this week’s cut, including Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas.
