It’s been four years since MLB legend George Brett first appeared on Subpar, and this week, he made a highly anticipated return to the show.
Just before his appearance on the show in 2021, Brett had played Augusta National. And this year, he’s heading back for the upcoming Masters to mark his first time on property since, and he shared his envy-inducing itinerary with hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz.
Brett’s first stop: a Friday mid-morning tee time at Sage Valley. On Saturday, he says he’ll be watching the tournament on-site, followed by a meal at Augusta institution T-Bonz.
As for his on-course spectating plans, Brett says he’s not a grandstand guy.
“I like to walk, I’m a walker. I don’t like to sit down too long,” he said. “I will probably watch Freddie Couples. I would love to watch him, because he usually does really well there.”
Brett and Couples have a long history. The two partnered to win the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in 1987, and Brett mentioned that their names are still enshrined next to the first tee at Pebble Beach.
Another player Brett says he’s interested in following? Ludvig Aberg.
“I’d love to watch Ludvig,” he said. “Not just because Joe Skovron’s his caddie, correct? I just — when that guy first burst on the scene — what was his first big deal he did? Was it the Ryder Cup? He played well in it, and so I just said, man, I like that guy. And now Joe’s caddying for him, so that’s who I will try to go see.”
