Winner’s bag: See the clubs Matt Kuchar used to win the Sony Open

Matt Kuchar's Bridgestone J15 CB irons.

Matt Kuchar closed with a final-round 66 to win the Sony Open in Hawaii by four shots over Andrew Putnam. Kuchar’s second win in his last three starts coincided with two notable changes to his iron shafts and golf ball at the end of last year.

One of the few players still using graphite iron shafts, Kuchar shelved his Aerotech shafts for True Temper Dynamic Gold 105 S300 steel in his Bridgestone J15CB irons. The shafts, which are soft stepped, helped knock down unwanted spin Kuchar had been noticing during practice sessions. He also swapped Bridgestone’s Tour B S golf ball for the lower-spinning Tour B X to keep his spin rate at an optimal level.

Here’s a full list of the gear Kuchar used to log his 9th PGA Tour title (*Shafts are soft stepped):

Driver: Bridgestone Tour B JGR (Fujikura Atmos Tour Spec 6S shaft), 9.5 degrees

Fairway wood: Titleist TS2 (Fujikura Speeder Evolution 757 X shaft), 13.5 degrees
