Just days after staging the Ryder Cup, a massive fire broke out near the 1st tee and 18th green at Marco Simone, the host venue.

As seen in various videos shared online, a hospitality tent in one of the most popular viewing spots on the property went up in flames Thursday afternoon. Crews had been breaking down the buildout of scaffolding and bleachers for days, but local fire crews were called to the course shortly after 5 p.m. Thankfully, a spokesperson for Ryder Cup Europe confirmed no one was injured in the incident.

The blaze took place in one of the temporary hospitality structures to the right of the 1st hole, and can be seen filling the sky with clouds of black smoke. Various people in the vicinity began posting videos to Twitter/X.

“Nobody was injured in the incident and the fire did not spread beyond the hospitality structure,” the spokesperson said. “There was no damage to the golf course or any other structure. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.”

Soon enough, footage from a helicopter flying above added plenty of context to the scenes that were flying around social media. The video came from Italy’s official fire and rescue institution, Vigili del Fuoco, and shows five fire crews controlling the blaze. We will provide more to this story as information becomes available.
