Luke Clanton has added another prestigious award to his trophy case.
The Florida State junior won the 2025 Ben Hogan Award on Monday, honoring the top collegiate golfer of the year. Clanton, the No. 1 player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, becomes the second Seminole to receive the honor, joining John Pak, who won in 2021.
Clanton earned the honor over a trio of finalists that included Auburn’s Jackson Koivun (who won in 2024) and North Carolina’s David Ford.

When looking at Clanton’s resume over the last year, his selection was a clear choice. In 2024 alone, he notched two runner-up finishes on the PGA Tour at the John Deere Classic and RSM Classic and added top 10s at the Wyndham Championship (5th) and Rocket Mortgage Classic (T10). He also tied for 41st at the U.S. Open and made the cut at the U.S. Amateur. Overall, he made 10 cuts in 13 Tour starts for the season.
His college season has been equally dominant, with four individual titles, including a four-shot win at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. He also finished runner-up at the 2024 NCAA Championships. Thanks to his stellar play on Tour and in the collegiate ranks, Clanton earned his Tour card via PGA Tour University Accelerated, becoming just the second golfer ever to do so.
Since the founding of the Ben Hogan Award in 1990, recipients have combined for 70 Tour wins and earn more than $465 million in prize money. Past winners include Ludvig Aberg (’22, ’23), Patrick Cantlay (’12), Rickie Fowler (’08), Viktor Hovland (’19), Jon Rahm (’15, ’16), Sahith Theegala (’20) and Peter Uihlein (’11).
