With various sections of the country scheduling a reopen after the coronavirus shutdown, the LPGA has targeted mid-July as the return date for its 2020 season.

The first tournament of a revised schedule will be the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational in central Michigan, held July 15-18. The season’s first major, the Evian Championship, is set to take place Aug. 6-9 in France, coincidentally the same weekend as the rescheduled PGA Championship in San Francisco.

Much of the LPGA and PGA Tour schedules remain pending, and that much was made clear by LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan.

“One thing that has become clear is that there will be no ‘opening bell’ regarding a return to safe play in this new normal of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Whan said. “To be honest, being ‘first’ has never been the goal when it comes to returning to play in this new normal. We have built a schedule that we think is as safe as possible given what we know about travel bans, testing availability, and delivering events that our sponsors and our athletes will be excited to attend.”

The LPGA announcement included the shuffling of a number of events that were originally scheduled for June. The season will run into mid-December, about three weeks later than normal. You can find a fully updated schedule for the 2020 season below, inclusive of another Wednesday announcement.

The PGA of America announced that the Women’s PGA Championship has been moved to Oct. 8-11. The event is set to be held at Aronimink Golf Club outside Philadelphia, and was originally scheduled for June 25-28. Unlike the Evian Championship, this major will not have to compete for viewership with a men’s counterpart.
