Lexi Thompson‘s 2023 was a year of two halves, and it seems she’s trying to keep all the good vibes from the second half going in 2024.
Thompson began the season coming off a high as she had picked up her first worldwide win in three years in the fall of ’22 and risen to 6th in the world. But, in 2023, she couldn’t keep that momentum going and missed the cut in seven of her first 11 events.
In the fall, though, her year started to take a turn for the better when she still qualified for U.S. Solheim Cup team by way of her Rolex World Ranking. She tied for 19th at the Kroger Queen City Championship leading up to the matches, went 3-1-0 in Spain, played in and nearly made the cut at the PGA Tour’s Shriners Children’s Open and finished the year with three top-10s in her last three starts. She also partnered with Rickie Fowler to finish T6 in the inaugural Grant Thornton Invitational last month.
Those last three starts on the LPGA Tour came with a new caddie, Colton Heisey, and it seems Thompson is aiming to keep that mojo with Heisey rolling. Both Thompson and Heisey announced on their social media pages, that he and Thompson will be working together on a full-time basis in 2024.
“I’m super grateful for the opportunity to work with one of the best to ever do it,” Heisey wrote in post that was also shared by Monday Q Info on Twitter. “Looking forward to a great season and doing everything I can to contribute to her success.”
Heisey is the fourth non-family member to caddie for Thompson in her career. He caddied on the PGA Tour for rookie Brandon Matthews in 2023, but Matthews failed to keep his PGA Tour card for this season.
