LeBron James Honors Arnold Palmer With ‘Lebronald Palmer’ Nike Sneaker

February 27, 2015

At first glance, the Nike LeBron 12 Low sneaker, better known as the “LeBronold Palmer,” doesn’t seem like the kind of shoe anyone would wear. But after staring at them for a few minutes straight, we’re mesmerized.

Earlier this week, Nike unveiled the LeBron 12 Low, the latest offering in the Nike LeBronold Palmer series. LeBron James was spotted wearing a pair during practice ahead of NBA All-Star Weekend, in case you needed assurance that these are, in fact, not a fluke. The shoe will hit shelves at Foot Locker March 1, three weeks before the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. At $200 a pair, the Nike LeBron 12 Low is the first “LeBronold Palmer” to go to retail.

[UPDATE Feb. 28, 12:45 p.m. Eastern: According to SneakerNews.com, the U.S. release of the “Lebronald Palmer” sneaker has been postponed; no new release date is available.]

In addition to a color scheme evocative of Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Logo, the shoes feature Nike’s hex-Zoom kit on the sole, according to Sole Collector. There’s also a beverage logo on the tab, completing the Palmer influence along with the colorway and subtle palm tree graphics.

Here’s a look at past versions of the “LeBronold Palmer” via Sole Collector. Don’t expect to see Arnie strolling around Bay Hill in a couple weeks with these on. But Keegan Bradley? That’s another story.
