So you’d like to get Masters tickets, huh? What convinced you?

Was it Augusta National’s majesty, its rolling fairways and impeccably maintained greenery? Or maybe it was the pimento cheese. Is it really something to write home about?

Maybe what convinced you was the golf tournament. It is annually one of the best on the golf calendar, if not the best. Or perhaps talk of a Tiger Woods resurgence stirred something in you, too.

Whatever your reasoning, you should know that your dreams of Augusta National are not only dreams. They can also be your reality, if you’re willing to work for it.

So, how do you get tickets to next year’s Masters? There are a two primary options.

The first, simplest, and most affordable way to go about securing tickets is to go through the Masters’ official ticket portal. The portal operates on a lottery system, meaning people submit their names and information to Augusta National (and how many tickets they want, up to four), who in turn selects a small pool of ‘winners.’ Masters lottery winners are then given the opportunity to purchase tickets to the tournament at face value prices. In 2023, practice rounds will cost lottery-winners $75 per practice round, and $115 per tournament round, plus taxes and fees.

If you haven’t won the lottery but you’re still hankering for tickets, consider taking a look on the secondary market. But buyer be warned: it will be pricey. Masters tickets range from several hundred to several thousand dollars on the secondary market, with prices raising as high as $6,000 per ticket for entrance into ultra-exclusive Berckman’s Place. There’s no ideal time to purchase, though experts generally recommend buying as far in advance of the tournament as possible.

Outside of these two options, your other options for Masters badges are … scarce. Perhaps, through some stroke of good fortune, you’ve managed to befriend an Augusta National member — that’s one way in. Another is to become a Masters volunteer, though the waitlist for that is a long one.

The lottery closes on June 21, 2022, and winners will be notified in mid-July when the selection process is completed. Happy hunting!
