Lacey Homa, PGA Championship

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Hello friends and happy Thursday morning from a very chilly Oak Hill! We had a little frost delay here this morning, but it already feels much warmer than yesterday. I’m not complaining though, because my sweet PGA Championship beanie is already getting a ton of use.

The final day of prep at Oak Hill was a blast. I watched a few groups Wednesday, including the LIV Golf crew of Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Harold Varner III and Talor Gooch. Varner in particular has incredible energy. In a two-minute span on Wednesday, he complimented my (objectively incredible) new sneakers and offered a staggering endorsement of a fresh apple.

“This is the best snack I’ve ever had,” Varner said so loud he was practically yelling. “LIV is great, but this apple is even better.”

It’s also worth noting that Shaun Micheel has established himself as my new favorite golfer. I was posted up on the third tee box when he arrived during a practice round with Denny McCarthy on Wednesday afternoon. He walked over to the volunteers and said, “I think it’s about time I have a Snickers bar.” After that, he asked them if they needed anything and shared a story about playing Oak Hill with his son earlier in the week. He had his family walking inside the ropes with him, and he and McCarthy seemed to be having a great time together.

Micheel’s caddie this week is a gruff-looking guy with long hair and a vibe so relaxed I would’ve guessed he surfed had he not told me he was from Rochester. The vibes in his corner of PGA Championship world are unquestionably good.

Max Homa in dad mode

I came across this wholesome video from Lacey Homa during my daily Instagram scroll and practically keeled over. Max Homa might be the King of Twitter, but Lacey gives him a run for his money over on TikTok.

Just look at Cam and Max having the time of their lives on that plane! As someone who always seems to be seated near a crying baby on flights, I’m also wildly impressed with baby Cam’s happy demeanor. Perhaps Max read his tweets aloud as a bedtime story.

Josh Allen

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I am not a football gal. But you know who is? Literally every single person at Oak Hill this week.

People are freaking out over Josh Allen’s presence in Rochester. You would’ve thought Tiger Woods himself showed up at Oak Hill by the sheer excitement surrounding this guy. Even Rory McIlroy was pumped to meet Allen and Von Miller.

I’m starting to believe that the best part of being a famous person is the ability to get incredible access at golf events. Allen and Miller showed up at the PGA and suddenly found themselves walking inside the ropes with players, spending time in the clubhouse and kicking it with Jim Nantz.

What a life!

Joel Dahmen hits fan

Professional golfer-turned-Netflix star Joel Dahmen continued to be a fan favorite on Wednesday at the PGA, even after he drilled a fan in the calf with a drive (oops). Apparently, Dahmen handed the fan (Caleb McGuire) a $100 bill for his troubles, p

Free beers for taking a drive to the calf? That honestly seems like a pretty good deal to me.
