As the world has grappled with the effects of coronavirus-related closures, the golf industry has been thriving. Players are returning to courses in droves, and interest in the game has exploded.
But getting started as a golfer can still be an intimidating prospect — especially for women. Enter Fore the Ladies, a start-up that aims to remove the barriers that commonly keep women away from golf. Pre-pandemic events were geared toward beginners and featured a cocktail-party vibe, where women socialized, tried new skills and shopped at women’s golf apparel pop-ups, all for an affordable price in a judgment-free environment.
Though in-person events are currently suspended, Fore the Ladies’ enterprising founder, Abby Liebenthal, isn’t going to let our new socially-distant reality slow down the organization’s goal of growing the game.
On Wednesday, Fore the Ladies is teaming up with Five Iron Golf to host a “Golf 101” virtual clinic from 6-7 p.m. ET. The event is open to both men and women, and will cover basic introductory topics, like how the game is played, how to read and use a scorecard, terms you might hear on the course, and basic fundamentals of the swing.
The best part? It’s only $15 to join the clinic, and prizes and promo codes will be sent to all participants. So, if you’re ready to dive in and learn more about this great game, or know someone who does, make sure to register here.
