It’s no secret that former NHL defenseman Mike Commodore loves golf.

Retired since 2014, Commodore enjoys taking some epic golf trips, and experienced a busy summer of international golf this year, courtesy of a European golf trip he took with more than two dozen other guys.

On this week’s episode of Subpar, Commodore told hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz that he estimates he played an incredible 17 or 18 rounds of golf over 12 days in Northern Ireland and Scotland at bucket-list courses like Royal Portrush, Royal County Down and Turnberry.

But mega-packed golf itineraries are nothing new for Commodore, who reminisced about a 10-day trip to Bandon Dunes, where he played 15 rounds.

“Left with the yips,” he said. “That was two years ago. I can’t chip — I’m horrified. Now, it’s all bumpin’.”

Commodore said he likes to use a high-loft 3-wood to bump it around the greens.

“I just want to get it on the green. Don’t blade it, and don’t leave it right at your feet.” Commodore said.

“You play more golf than Sungjae Im,” Knost quipped. “It’s not even close!”

“That’s saying something,” Commodore responded. “But he keeps gettin’ better and I’m gettin’ way worse.”
