With his victory Sunday at the Travelers Championship, Bubba Watson became the fourth player with multiple PGA Tour wins this season and jumped to No. 3 in the world ranking, behind only Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth.
The victory is Watson’s second at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut, a bomb-and-gouge type course that fits his game perfectly. Watson’s first PGA Tour victory came at the Travelers Championship in 2010, when he beat Scott Verplank and Corey Pavin in a playoff.
En route to his playoff victory over Paul Casey Sunday, Watson finished first in driving distance at 318.5 yards (no surprise), T1 in putts per round (26.75), sixth in strokes gained/tee-to-green and ninth in strokes gained/putting. Watson is putting with a Ping Anser Milled 1 putter.
For the season, Watson ranks 18th in strokes gained/putting.
To lead the field in driving distance, Watson used an 8.25° Ping G30. He’s ranked third for the season in driving distance at 309.5 yards a pop.
Watson also led the field in scrambling, getting the ball up-and-down at a rate of 90.91 percent. He’s using Ping Glide 52, 56SS and 60TS wedges.
