Valspar leader’s wife has whirlwind travel morning — while 8 months pregnant — to get to Tampa

Adam Schenk's wife Kourtney had a wild travel morning Sunday to get to the Valspar.

Adam Schlenk's wife, Kourtney, detailed her wild travel morning.

Adam Schenk’s herculean schedule, in which he hasn’t taken a week off from the PGA Tour since the first week of January, means he has spent a lot of time away from his wife, Kourtney, this season.

But, as he revealed Friday, it’s for a good reason, as Kourtney is 8 months pregnant with the couple’s first child. He plans to take a good bit of time off once the baby is born.

However, with Adam entering the final round of the Valspar Championship with a one-shot lead Sunday, looking for his first PGA Tour win, he wanted his wife to be with him.

“We were working on the nursery while he was playing. So that was a good distraction,” Kourtney told NBC Sports’ Cara Banks. “And then he called me and he was like, ‘Okay, so when you get here tomorrow?’ And I’m like, ‘Well, really early because that’s my only option.'”

She said she woke up at 2 a.m. to get to the airport and then got into her husband’s hotel room right as he was waking up. And then as every good husband should, Adam made her breakfast.

Not only did Kourtney make it to Tampa in time for Sunday’s final round, but she was also out walking the course with Adam — while 8 months pregnant.

“I’m feeling good. So I decided I would come out and walk 18,” she said.

She told Banks she couldn’t think of missing the potential for Adam’s first win no matter the situation. She also wasn’t surprised at his play. Adam is playing one of his best seasons on the PGA Tour in his sixth season on Tour, sitting 72nd in the FedEx Cup standings coming into the week. He had just birdied the opening hole when Banks caught up with Kourtney.

“He always has it in him,” Kourtney said. “He’s been in this position a few times, but I think we have a little bit different perspective lingering right now, so it’s fun to watch.”
