How to watch FedEx St. Jude on Saturday
Scottie Scheffler delivered an incredible second round at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, firing a 9-under 61 to secure a three-shot lead heading into the weekend. His 61 matches the course record and moved him to 11-under par after 36 holes.
Scheffler opened with five consecutive birdies and never let up, matching the course record to reach 11-under through 36 holes. Sungjae Im and Viktor Hovland are tied for second at 8-under, with Ludvig Åberg alone in fourth at 7-under.
“Really just a dream start,” Scheffler said. “Probably one of the best starts I’ve had on Tour, to be honest with you.”
The five-time major champion also remarked that his swing has been feeling particularly good in recent weeks, and that confidence clearly carried over. Im shot 4-under 66 to remain three shots back, while Hovland posted a bogey-free 64 to join him at 8-under. Hovland credited his consistency off the tee and into the greens.
“It was really nice, really solid,” Hovland said after the round, “Hit a lot of fairways, and I think that’s a big deal for my game, but also especially at this golf course.”
With temperatures soaring in Memphis, the heat will be another factor as the leaders return to TPC Southwind. After Friday’s round, Hovland said he planned to recover with a cold plunge and stay in the air conditioning, noting that spending five or six hours in the heat “definitely takes a toll.”
Scheffler will tee off alongside Im at 1:45 p.m. ET.
