Tommy Fleetwood joked Saturday that being No. 1 is nice, but he’s probably No. 1 on a few lists that he doesn’t want to be on.
“I’m on top of a lot of stat lines for people that haven’t won on the PGA Tour, so to always to be a No. 1 at something is always nice,” he said as the interview room at TPC River Highlands cracked up.
Fleetwood has the chance Sunday to finally get off those lists.
The Englishman entered the final round of the Travelers Championship with a three shot lead as he looks to shed the “Best player without a PGA Tour win” moniker.
“I would love to win on the PGA Tour,” Fleetwood said Saturday. “I think it’s like an element of your career that everybody wants, and I of course want it.
“There’s also things that I’m very proud about as well, like my consistency, where I stand in FedEx Cups and World Rankings and things like that. So there’s a lot to be happy about, but, you know, of course, I’m not going to, you know, be silly and say I don’t care about it, of course I want to win, and hopefully it will happen sooner rather than later.”
Fleetwood will have his hands full Sunday, playing with Keegan Bradley, New England’s native son and 2023 winner of his de facto hometown event. Bradley and Russell Henley are Fleetwood’s closest pursuers on Sunday.

Both Bradley and Fleetwood played for far more than money, but there will also be plenty of financial reward for getting over the hump Sunday. Ultimately, Bradley got the better of Fleetwood on Sunday with a dramatic 72nd birdie.
