And on Wednesday at Augusta National, it’s was the Next Gen’s turn to take over the spotlight. The 2025 Masters Par 3 Contest may even surpass the happiness emanating from the property on Tuesday, as smiles, laughs, fist-pumps and adorable, putter-wielding toddlers won the day.
The Masters Par 3 Contest is a beloved Augusta National tradition that began in 1960. Over the years, it’s morphed into a delightful showcase of players’ growing families. For the elder returning Masters champions, it’s a chance to tour the course with a grandchild. For contenders in their prime, it’s a fun way to unwind a bit with their kids before the tension of tournament week begins in earnest on Thursday.
Augusta National’s Par 3 Course measures out to 1,055 total yards, with holes that play between 70 and 155 yards. The player’s regular caddies are given a break for the Masters Par 3 Contest, as wives, girlfriends, children, grandchildren and other friends and relatives step in to schlep the bag instead. One commonality: everyone wears the traditional white caddie jumpsuit — which you can buy too!
