Ludvig Aberg shot a nine-under 63 on Torrey Pines’ North Course on Wednesday to grab the first-round lead in a PGA Tour event for the first time in his career. It’s likely it won’t be the last for the 25-year-old rising star. Here’s everything you need to know for Thursday at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Aberg had knee surgery in the fall but he’s shown little rust since. He tied for 17th at the RSM Classic (where he was the defending champion), was 6th at the Hero World Challenge and tied for 5th at the 2025 season-opening Sentry.
“Felt like I was driving the ball really well. Golf becomes a lot easier when you can do that,” Aberg said. “Even though North is a little bit easier than South, it still presents its challenges and you’ve still got to hit the shots. Super happy with the way we kind of came out of the gates today and played some good golf.”
Aberg leads Danny Walker and Hayden Springer by two. Springer also played the North Course while Walker is the only player in the top seven who played the South Course.
