Featured tee time for Round 3
It seems incomprehensible that a player who shoots 59 may still have to battle his way to victory on the PGA Tour, but such is life at the game’s top level. And after becoming the 15th player in Tour history to fire a sub-60 round on Thursday, Jake Knapp’s lead has been cut to only one shot at the Cognizant Classic’s halfway point.
Knapp followed his bogey-free Thursday 59 with a 1-under 70 on Friday, bringing him to 13 under overall, and one shot ahead of his closest competitor, Matthieu Pavon, who fired rounds of 66-64 to sit at 12 under in solo second.
Both Knapp and Pavon are vying for their second career Tour victories after posting breakthrough wins last year. They’ll play in Saturday’s final pairing at 1:55 p.m. ET.
You can watch Saturday’s third round of the Cognizant Classic from 1-3 p.m. ET on Golf Channel, followed by the CBS broadcast from 3-6 p.m. ET. You can also stream exclusive online coverage via PGA Tour Live on ESPN+ starting at 6:45 a.m. ET on Saturday morning.
