The PGA Tour heads to golf-crazed Japan this week for the 2024 Zozo Championship, and we have our eyes on a long-shot veteran whose game is rounding into form. Here’s our long-shot pick, the Zozo Championship odds, betting favorites and everything else you need to know.
Zozo Championship odds: Long-shot bet
We’re picking PGA Tour veteran Matt Kuchar (+5500 odds-to-win) as our long-shot pick to win the Zozo. Here’s a little background into why.
Kuchar is a 46-year-old, nine-time Tour winner whose best golf is likely behind him. His 2024 season is evidence. In 23 starts, Kuchar missed 12 cuts and only recorded one top-10 finish.
But he’s saved his best play for the end of the year. Of his six top 25s this season, he has four top-14 finishes in his last five starts, including a T3 at the 3M Open.
Should Kuchar summon his formerly elite play to capture his 10th title in Japan this week, and you put $10 on him, you’ll walk away with $550. Consider placing additional small bets on Kuchar to finish top 10 and top 20 for insurance.
Looking for more long-shot bets for the Zozo Championship? This week’s honorable mentions are Rickie Fowler (+5000) and Adam Svensson (+6600).
Zozo Championship odds: The favorites
Many stars are back in action for the first time in a while this week, including World No. 2 Xander Schauffele, who comes in as the betting favorite with +450 odds-to-win.
He’s trailed by World No. 4 and defending champion Collin Morikawa (+700) and 2021 Zozo champion Hideki Matsuyama (+850).
