The PGA Tour sticks in Florida this week for the 2024 Valspar Championship, and we’re picking the defending champion as our long shot to win. Here’s our pick, the Valspar Championship odds, betting favorites and everything else you need to know.

Valspar Championship odds: Long-shot bet

Our long-shot pick this week might be familiar if you watched last year’s Valspar. His name is Taylor Moore, his odds-to-win are +6000, and he is also the 2023 Valspar champion.

Tour Confidential: Scheffler's epic Players comeback, 'tricky' drops, Jay Monahan speaks

Any time a defending champion has long odds, it’s usually worth a small bet. Golf is all about confidence and taking advantage of positive memories. Pros often talk about how comfortable they feel competing on courses where they have previously won. Repeat victories are not all that rare, you can take Scottie Scheffler’s Players win on Sunday as evidence of that.

And while Moore’s record so far this season won’t blow anyone away, you could argue he’s playing better than he was in the lead-up to last year’s Valspar. In 2023, he finished T35 at the Players the week before his win. This year, he finished T31 at TPC Sawgrass. Furthermore, he has yet to miss a cut in seven starts this season.

If you bet $10 on Moore to successfully defend his title and he does, you’ll earn $600. For insurance, consider placing additional small bets on Moore to finish top 10 and top 20.

Looking for more long-shot bets for the Valspar Championship? Our honorable mentions this week are Adam Schenk (+6600) and Lucas Glover (+6600).

Valspar Championship odds: The favorites

Xander Schauffele nearly won the Players on Sunday, and he heads into the Valspar as the betting favorite with +750 odds-to-win.

Sam Burns (+1100) comes in second in oddsmakers’ eyes, while friends Justin Thomas are Jordan Spieth are tied at +1400.

Reigning Open champion Brian Harman was our long-shot pick last week, and he nearly pulled off the win with a T2 finish. This week he rounds out the top 5 in odds-to-win at +2000.
