The 2024 Olympic golf event begins for the men’s side on Thursday, Aug. 1, at Le Golf National, and we’re picking a French pro as our long shot to take home gold. Here’s our long-shot pick, the Olympic golf odds for the men’s tournament, betting favorites and everything else you need to know.

Olympic golf odds: Long-shot bet

The Summer Olympics are back, and for the third Games in a row, golf is a big part of the action. First up is the men’s event, and we’re picking French pro Matthieu Pavon as our long shot to win gold at +6,600 odds-to-win.

Scottie Scheffler couldn’t help but flex about how much he's won

To risk stating the obvious, Pavon is the best French golfer alive, and this year’s Olympics are in Paris, with the golf going down near the city at Le Golf National — so the home-country favorite should have extra inspiration to perform at a high level this week.

But Pavon could have earned long-shot respect even without his nationality considered. He captured his first PGA Tour victory earlier this season at the Farmers Insurance Open and followed that up with a third-place finish in his next event, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. A T12 at the Masters in April and a top 5 at the U.S. Open in June prove that Pavon’s game is in fine form, even when playing against the game’s best.

If you bet $10 on Pavon to win and he grabs the gold, you’ll earn $660. Looking for more long-shot bets for the Olympics? This week’s honorable mentions are Jason Day (+5,000) and Adrian Meronk (+6,000).

Olympic golf odds: The favorites

Forgive us if this seems repetitive, but the betting favorite for the Olympic men’s golf event is the same favorite for every big event this year: World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler at +400 odds-to-win.

But Scheffler has some company near the top in the form of two-time major champion and defending gold medalist Xander Schauffele (+550).

Rory McIlroy, representing Ireland, comes in with +850 odds-to-win to round out the top three.

You can see the top 15 in Olympic betting odds as of Monday afternoon below or head over to BetMGM to see the full list of odds and bets for this week.
