At this week’s 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club, the game’s best are crowded at the top of the betting odds list, but we’re eyeing a former PGA champion as our long-shot pick to win. Here’s our pick, the U.S. Open odds and betting favorites and everything else you need to know for the week.
U.S. Open odds: Long-shot bet
For the third major of the year, we’re putting our long-shot money on major champion Keegan Bradley, who opens the week with +8000 odds to win.
Bradley, the winner of the 2011 PGA Championship, has experienced a return to form over the last two years, collecting 10 top-10s with half a season still to play.
He also broke a lengthy win drought with a victory at the Zozo Championship in October and added a runner-up at the Farmers Insurance Open in February.
At last year’s U.S. Open, fueled by a hometown crowd, Bradley earned a T7, the second U.S. Open top-10 finish of his career.
Bradley finished T23 at the 2023 Masters and T29 at the PGA Championship. Though he recorded a T30 in his last start at the Memorial, he was in contention for a win until a devastating 78 on Sunday ended his hopes. This has been a common theme for Bradley this season, playing well but being undone by one bad round.
Should he right the ship and stay hot for four straight days, he could easily win this week. If you bet $10 on him to do so and he pulls it off, you’ll walk away with $800. For additional insurance bets, consider putting small wagers on Bradley to finish top 10 and top 20.
Looking for more long shots to wager on? This week’s long-shot honorable mentions are Adam Scott (+6600) and Rickie Fowler (+6600).
U.S. Open odds: The favorites
We’re back in major championship territory, and as a result, the top of the odds-to-win list features the game’s biggest and brightest stars.
Scottie Scheffler leads the way as the betting favorite to take home his first U.S. Open title at +700. World No. 2 Jon Rahm is in second with +1000 odds-to-win, followed by PGA champion Brooks Koepka at +1100.
Rory McIlroy, who had another disappointing Sunday in contention at the Canadian Open, comes in fourth with +1200 odds to win.

How last week’s long shot fared
Winner, winner! For last week’s RBC Canadian Open, we took Canadian veteran Nick Taylor as our long-shot pick, and for the first time this season, we nailed it.
But our pick didn’t look so hot after the first round. Taylor opened with a disappointing three-over 75, leaving him T120 and eyeing an early exit.
But then he put together a rally for the ages that will be long remembered in Canadian sports lore. Taylor fired a 67 on Day 2 to rocket up the leaderboard into T47. Then on Saturday, he broke the course record with a nine-under 63 to temporarily take the lead, eventually being passed by C.T. Pan, who finished Round 3 on top at 14 under, three shots ahead of Taylor.
On Sunday, Taylor put on another show, making birdie on his final two holes to shoot 66 and force a playoff with Tommy Fleetwood.
On the fourth playoff hole after a tense battle, Taylor sunk a heroic 72-foot eagle putt on 18 to seal his (and our) victory.
