The Masters purse, just like so many others in professional golf, is going nowhere but up.

Augusta National released the purse for the 2023 Masters on Saturday afternoon during third-round play, and it comes out to a whopping $18 million. That’s an increase of $3 million from 2022 which was already up $3.5 million from 2021‘s $11.5 million total.

This year’s winner will collect not only the green jacket, but also an impressive $3.24 million, the largest in major championship history. Both the $18 million purse and $3.24 million first-place check eclipse the U.S. Open’s record purse and winner’s share from last year. Last year, Scottie Scheffler received $2.7 million.

The $18 million still trails this year’s Players Championship purse of $25 million, the richest in the history of professional golf, and the $20 million purses of the PGA Tour’s designated events and LIV Golf events.

Fifty-four players are playing for the record purse this week. You can stream the third and final rounds of the Masters via ESPN+, Masters.com and the Masters App, or you can watch the telecast on CBS starting at 3 p.m. ET.
