It’s time for the 2022 Genesis Invitational, the limited-field event hosted by Tiger Woods at Riviera CC in Los Angeles. While Tiger won’t be teeing it up, a stellar field of stars will be. The betting odds for the tournament via BetMGM feature several favorites with major championship credentials, but major winners aren’t limited to the upper reaches of the odds for this week. Here’s what you need to know.

Genesis Invitational odds: This week’s favorites

Two-time major champion Collin Morikawa has had a light PGA Tour schedule so far this year, appearing only once at the Tournament of Champions, where he tied for 5th. He then spent two weeks on the DP World Tour with middling results. But there’s good reason to bet on the World No. 2 this week (or any week for that matter).

While four players have better odds to win the Genesis than Morikawa’s +1800, Morikawa was on a tear at the end of 2021, finishing second at the CJ Cup, T7 at the Zozo and first at the DP World Tour Championship, which secured him the tour’s season-long Race to Dubai title. Let’s also not forget his two major wins, including at last year’s Open, the most recent to be played. World No. 1 Jon Rahm leads the odds (+900), but the smart money might be on Morikawa.

Genesis Invitational odds: ‘Longshot’ of the week

This week’s “longshot” is in quotes for a reason. That’s because it’s difficult to call a three-time major champion and the current World No. 14 a “longshot,” but it fits the bill for Jordan Spieth this week. Spieth tumbled out of the Top 15 in betting odds this week, falling to +4000.

He had a rough week at the WM Phoenix Open, making the cut but struggling on the weekend to finish T60. But Spieth has already shown flashes of brilliance this year, and he’s always a threat to win, especially at a limited-field event where putting is a priority. Should you bet $100 on the Golden Child and he wins, you’ll walk away $4,000 richer.
