The 2021 Zurich Classic of New Orleans kicks off Thursday, April 22, from the Big Easy. You can find full first round tee times at the bottom of this post.
Notable groupings for Zurich Classic Round 1
The Zurich Classic has a unique hybrid format different from all other PGA Tour events. First, players compete in teams of two. Second, normal stroke play is abandoned for four-ball and foursomes, with a total team score determining the winner.
For Thursday’s opening round, all 80 teams will compete under the four-ball format, with each golfer playing their own ball throughout the round. The lowest score on each hole will count toward the team’s total score.
World No. 12 Tony Finau teamed up with Daniel Summerhays to finish in 6th place at the 2018 Zurich Classic. Finau is back for more this year, but with a new teammate: rising American star Cameron Champ. The pair tee off on Thursday at 8:52 a.m. ET alongside the team of Billy Horschel and Sam Burns.
Other notable groupings for the opening round include defending champions Jon Rahm/Ryan Palmer and Henrik Stenson/Justin Rose (1:57 p.m. ET); Colin Morikawa/Matthew Wolff and Marc Leishman/Cameron Smith (1:44 p.m. ET); and Xander Schauffele/Patrick Cantlay and Bubba Watson/Scottie Scheffler (8:39 a.m. ET)
