Previewing WGC-Dell Match Play Day 2
Jordan Spieth did not have a great seed going into the Match Play, 49 to be exact, but he didn’t show it on Wednesday. In his first match against Matthew Fitzpatrick, Spieth rode some solid play to a 3-and-1 win over the talented Englishman, sealing his victory with a birdie on 17.
For his second match on Thursday, Spieth will take on another talented youngster, Matthew Wolff, who beat Corey Conners 3 and 1 on Wednesday. They tee off at 11:25 a.m. ET.
Rory McIlroy was among the pros who found himself on the losing side of things on Wednesday. McIlroy lost big to Ian Poulter, 6 and 5. But Rory isn’t out of it yet. He’ll play Lanto Griffin next, with the first shot being hit at 2:54 p.m. ET.
