Shriners Children’s Open Round 3 Preview

Two rounds are complete at the Shriners Children’s Open, and there’s a familiar face near the top of the leaderboard. Sam Burns, who triumphed at last week’s Sanderson Farms Championship for his second Tour win, fired an eight-under 63 in Friday’s second round to reach 13 under for the tournament.

That leaves him just one shot off the lead with 36 holes to go in Las Vegas. Two players have bested Burns so far. Sungjae Im, who won 2018-19 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year honors, shot a 65 on Friday to move to 14 under. He’s tied with a relatively unknown pro, 29-year-old Chad Ramey.

But in a tournament where scoring has come pretty easily for the game’s best, those three players are nowhere near safe in their positions. Plenty of proven pros are trailing close behind with a chance to charge up the leaderboard this weekend, including Louis Oosthuizen.
