Previewing QBE Shootout Round 2
The most notable thing about the Friday’s opening round at the QBE Shootout was the preponderance of birdies, and much of that was thanks to the scramble format designated for Day 1. Among the teams to take advantage and go super low was Lexi Thompson and Bubba Watson.
The pair put together a first-round score of 13 under, leaving them T4 and just three shots off the lead. The duo at the front of the pack both hail from Australia: Jason Day and Marc Leishman.
For the second round at Tiburon Golf Club, teams will compete under a modified alternate shot format, which means scores won’t be nearly as low. Thompson and Watson will tee off on Saturday at 12:01 p.m. ET alongside Brian Harman and Hudson Swafford.
