This week the PGA Tour heads to California for the 2020 Zozo Championship, where Tiger Woods will make his first start since the U.S. Open. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the tournament.
Zozo Championship preview
We haven’t seen much of Tiger since his disappointing missed cut at Winged Foot, but that’s about to change in a big way. Tiger is the defending champion at his next two expected starts, the Masters in November and this week’s Zozo Championship.
Woods gave the Zozo Championship a historic moment to remember last year, winning the inaugural event in Japan for his record-tying 82nd PGA Tour win. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the tournament was temporarily moved to Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif., near where Woods grew up.
Tiger will attempt to defend his title against a star-studded field packed with big-name players, including World No. 2 Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, PGA champ Collin Morikawa and Rory McIlroy, who rank Nos. 2-5 in the Official World Golf Ranking, respectively.
If that’s not enough star power for you, then you’ll be happy to know that five-time major champion Phil Mickelson will also be in the field. Mickelson is fresh off his second-straight Champions Tour victory, and now he’ll try to translate that success to the big leagues and build confidence for next month’s Masters.
