The 2020 Tour Championship, the final event of the PGA Tour season, begins with the opening round on Friday, September 4, in Atlanta, Ga. You can find full first round tee times at the bottom of this post.
Notable pairings for Tour Championship Round 1
At the Tour Championship, players are given tee times and pairings based on their position in the FedEx Cup standings at the start of the event. Dustin Johnson, ranked No. 1, and Jon Rahm, No. 2 will be in the final pairing, teeing off East Lake’s 1st hole at 2:20 p.m. ET on Friday.
Preceding DJ and Rahm on the tee are two other players in prime position for a run at the $15 million winner’s share: Justin Thomas and Webb Simpson. Thomas and Simpson have had two of the strongest and most consistent seasons of anyone on Tour with five wins between them — but none more valuable than this one. They tee off on Friday at 2:10 p.m. ET.
Finally, defending champion Rory McIlroy will start his tournament at 1:30 p.m. ET, playing alongside Brendon Todd. McIlroy was the best golfer on the planet early in 2020, but he has struggled since the Tour returned to action in June. A big performance this week would erase any bad memories and add a third FedEx Cup to his trophy shelf.
