It’s Sunday at the 3M Open and Tony Finau sits within striking distance of his second-ever PGA Tour victory. Finau is 13 under after a trio of rounds in the 60s to open the weekend, two strokes back of the leaders Michael Thompson and Richy Werenski.
Of course, Sunday holds added context for Finau, who has coach Boyd Summerhays on the bag for the week after parting ways with longtime caddie Greg Bodine following the Memorial Tournament. The 30-year-old has struggled to break through as a consistent Tour winner, placing second seven times over the last three seasons, most recently in a playoff to Webb Simpson at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Last year’s 3M Open winner, Matthew Wolff, is also in the mix (tied for 13th at 10 under). He’s got work to do on Sunday if he’s to catch up to the leaders, but that’s well-worn territory for the 21-year-old. At last year’s 3M, Wolff shot a 6-under 65 in the final round to vault himself up the leaderboard, draining a decisive eagle putt on the 18th hole to clinch the win.
