2019 U.S. Open: Tiger Woods U.S. Open tee time

June 12, 2019

Tiger Woods’ quest for a 16th major takes flight Thursday. And, thanks to a convenient west coast time zone, many of you will be able to catch it all in prime time.

Woods tees off at 5:09 p.m. ET (yes, really) for his first round of the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. He’ll play his first two rounds with Jordan Spieth and Justin Rose, the fourth-to-last group to go off in Round 1.

Woods enters play tied for the third-best odds to win, at 10/1, per GolfOdds.com. Spieth (16/1) and Rose (25/1) are also among the strongest contenders in field, with Dustin Johnson (13/2) and Brooks Koepka (8/1) the only players ahead of Woods.

Thursday could tell the tale for Woods’ chances at Pebble amid a stacked field. He’s ranked just 57th on Tour in stroke average in the first round (70.43) but is inside the top-20 in both Rounds 3 and 4. If he can hang around before the weekend, Woods’ course knowledge and experience could help lift him to that coveted fourth U.S. Open title.

He played nine holes of practice on Wednesday, a final tune-up to get it all in gear. So, get your day job done, head home and sit back on the couch. You’ll be home in time to watch a full 18-hole round from Tiger Woods, looking to set the tone at the U.S. Open. If he does, Woods could secure another signature moment in the long list of his U.S. Open successes.
