PHOTOS: Phil Mickelson, wife Amy Mickelson photos through the years

Amy and Phil Mickelson

Phil Mickelson, during last year’s Masters, entered Saturday’s third round four shots out of the lead, then played his first seven holes at five over and, for all intents and purposes, was done. As he walked the 8th, his wife, Amy, joined him, and he wrapped his left arm around her shoulder. Augusta was without both ropes and patrons last year, so Amy was following him close.

Her husband would birdie No. 8.

“She is the most charismatic, intelligent, dynamic woman or person I’ve ever met, and her energy and support means more to me than anything, and to be able to see her and be able to see her out here and have her on holes that she’s never been able to see before, like 12 and 13, is an experience of a lifetime for both of us,” said Phil Mickelson, who’d go on to finish tied for 55th, and is leading this year’s PGA Championship by a stroke entering the final round.

“I’m so happy she’s here.”

The couple met in 1992, married four years later and have three children, Amanda (born a day after Phil Mickelson finished second in the 1999 U.S. Open), Sophia (born in 2001) and Evan (born in 2003).
