Though he’s taken a backseat in recent weeks to the Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift travelling circus, Patrick Mahomes is indisputably the star of the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs, if not the entire NFL.
The 28-year-old star quarterback has already won two MVPs to go along with his two Vince Lombardi trophies.
But Mahomes’ athletic talents aren’t limited to the gridiron; he’s also an avid and skilled golfer.
A former GOLF Magazine cover star, Mahomes regularly plays in elite amateur golf competitions like the American Century Championship.
He’s also appeared in two editions of The Match. In 2022, Mahomes and Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen took on Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. In the most recent iteration this past June, Mahomes and Kelce defeated NBA stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson at the Wynn Las Vegas, thanks in no small part to Mahomes clutch play.
Another sign of how big of a golfer Mahomes is? His new house.
Patrick Mahomes’ backyard par-3
In June, Front Office Sports reported that work on Mahomes new home in Missouri had been completed.
Sitting on eight acres, Mahomes property basically has everything you could want. Among those amenities are a beautiful swimming pool and what looks like a half-sized football field.
And while the Mahomes family will no doubt enjoy the private pond that graces their yard, it’s what can be found alongside the pond that while interest golfers the most: a full, backyard par-3 golf hole.
From the aerial image above, it appears the tee for Mahomes’ backyard par-3 begins near the house. A small fairway starts straight then turns left toward the green, with the pond running against the right side of the hole.
The green on Mahomes backyard par-3 consists of two ovals, which are pinched at the middle, and the left side is protected by a bunker.
Mahomes has been tight-lipped about the new house and golf hole, but hopefully soon enough we’ll get more photos of it.
Other famous backyard par-3s
Mahomes isn’t the only celebrity golfer who chose to build a golf hole at his home.
CBS broadcaster Jim Nantz famously has an exact replica of Pebble Beach’s iconic par-3 7th hole in the backyard of his Pebble Beach home.
Actor Mark Wahlberg has multiple greens behind his house in Los Angeles. Former PGA Champion Jason Day’s Ohio home features an especially spectacular backyard golf spread.
But 15-time major winner Tiger Woods takes it to another level.
At Woods’ Jupiter Island, Fla., home, he has three separate golf greens featuring different grasses, as well as several bunkers with various different sands, so he can fine-tune his game exactly how he wants at any time.
