WATCH: Phil Mickelson just made an ace on Jim Nantz’s Pebble Beach replica hole

Phil Mickelson’s U.S. Open prep for Pebble Beach is off to a strong start.

On Tuesday Mickelson tweeted a chipping tip from the 10th hole at Pebble Beach, but on Wednesday he was in Jim Nantz’s backyard firing shots at the broadcaster’s replica of the iconic 7th hole at Pebble Beach.

And, of course, Mickelson made an ace on camera.

“This is what he’s talking about right here,” Nantz said as the ball tracked (with Masters theme music playing in the background). “Here it comes. Here it comes. Here it comes! It’s in the hole! What a way to prep for the United States Open!”

Mickelson dropped the wedge and celebrated afterward. There were several balls on the green already, so who knows how many shots it took him to record the hole-in-one.

If this whole thing sounds familiar, that’s because Nick Faldo aced the replica hole last year.

Check out Mickelson’s shot below. We’ll have to wait another week to see if this wedge wizardry carries over to the real Pebble Beach 7th.
