Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson to join Jim Nantz for Masters rewatch this weekend

April 10, 2020

If you’re missing golf, you’re not alone. This was supposed to be Masters week, the beginning of spring and warm weather and blooming azaleas. Instead, we find ourselves in sports purgatory as we deal with far more important matters.

But there is some form of a reprieve this weekend. As previously reported, CBS is airing two classic Masters final rounds (2004 and 2019) during their broadcast windows on Saturday and Sunday. And not only will they be airing those final rounds, but they will also have exclusive commentary from Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods as they look back at two of their monumental victories.

Joining CBS lead broadcaster Jim Nantz, Mickelson and Woods will get to relive the final rounds of their performances and provide color commentary that has never been heard before from the duo.

CBS Sports gave a sneak peek of what these broadcasts have in store in some teasers earlier this week.

“To actually live it and experience it and to do it on the final green was very surreal,” Mickelson said of his closing birdie to clinch the green jacket. “I couldn’t believe that it was happening.”

Mickelson famously closed with 31 on the back nine that Sunday at Augusta, culminating in his now-iconic leap after the final putt dropped.

Woods’ come-from-behind victory last year is sure to generate some major buzz on would-be Masters Sunday as well.

“They’re witnessing their father win a golf tournament in person,” Woods said of his kids being on hands when the final putt dropped. “For them to see it. Feel it. Experience it. Understand it … Now because they’re of age, they’ll remember it for the rest of their lives.”

The Masters Rewind starts Saturday with the 2004 final round airing at 2:30 p.m. ET and continues Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET with the 2019 edition.
