The 2022 U.S. Open is here, and the game’s best players are at Brookline to battle for the title. According to the U.S. Open betting odds via BetMGM, the usual suspects are installed as betting favorites, with Rory McIlroy leading the way. Here’s what you need to know.
2022 U.S. Open odds: This week’s favorites
McIlroy has been among the betting favorites for every tournament he’s teed it up in this season, and for good reason. Rory has contended regularly, but up until last week he had just one win dating back to October.
That changed on Sunday when he fired a 62 to win the RBC Canadian Open, which earned him almost $2 million and the honor of U.S. Open betting favorite at +1100.
But his lead is a narrow one. Newly-minted PGA champion Justin Thomas comes in second at +1200, with defending champion Jon Rahm and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler tied at +1400 odds to win at Brookline.
2022 U.S. Open odds: Long shot of the week
For this week’s long shot, we’re shining the spotlight on someone who has recently appeared in this space: Beau Hossler. Hossler rose to fame at the 2012 U.S. Open at Olympic, where he led the tournament in the second round and finished T29… as a 17-year-old amateur.
Now 27, Hossler fought his way onto the PGA Tour in recent years. Despite the fact that he still hasn’t won on Tour, Hossler has been contending all season, with some shaky weekend rounds keeping him from the winner’s circle. At +40000 odds to win, if he can get off to a hot start again and ride his good memories from 2012, he could turn a modest $10 bet into $4,000.
