Despite nearing Champions Tour eligibility, Stewart Cink is playing some of the best golf of his career. Here are seven tips for his success.

1. Read Inner Excellence, by Jim Murphy

The subtitle says it all (and then some): Train Your Mind for Extraordinary Performance and the Best Possible Life.

2. Stop drinking soda

For a guy who lives in Atlanta (ancestral home of Coca-Cola), not an easy thing to say. Well, the company makes Vitaminwater too.

3. Strengthen your back

Do the Pigeon Pose. Yes, it’s a yoga thing. Real men do yoga. That’s what Lisa keeps telling Stewart. Check it out.

4. Listen while you watch

. During golf broadcasts, players and caddies often talk about the best place to miss. So why aren’t you?

5. Practice short game with a purpose

Put nine balls on the side of the green. Challenge yourself: I’m gonna get five of these up-and-down.

6. Hydrate

As oil is to an engine, water (now in all your favorite colors!) is to the body.

7. Sleep

Keeps the brain in the game.
