In-between clubs? This simple setup adjustment will help

When you find yourself in-between clubs, GOLF Top 100 Teacher Brian Mogg says try these setup adjustments to ensure great contact

Regardless of which club you choose, you can have great contact.

Being between clubs on the golf course can cause all sorts of disasters to your scorecard. Not only does it make you overthink the shot you’re planning to hit — wondering if you pulled the right club or the wrong one — but it also requires you to adjust your swing to make sure you hit it with just a little less or a little more power.

Sure, it’s important to know how far you hit each club, but what can you do if you’re unsure about the club choice when it comes to your target landing area? Get a little creative.

This is where GOLF Top 100 Teacher Brian Mogg suggests making a couple small adjustments to your golf setup — which can be seen in the Instagram video below.

As Mogg discusses in the video, when you’re in-between clubs, focus on your setup first.

“When you’ve got yourself in-between clubs, do two simple things,” Mogg says. “Just choke the iron down, narrow your stance, keep the ball in the middle of that short iron.”

Now that you’ve choked down on the grip, Mogg says to confidently stand over your ball and make a full swing like you normally would.

Even if you hit it flush (which is always the goal anyway), by incorporating the two adjustments above, the result will be about half a club off.

So whether you’re in-between clubs due to weather conditions or something else, using Mogg’s easy setup tips will allow you to see great results — and take the stress out of your shots.
