With the calendar flipping to January, the offseason is in full swing. December brought some mild weather and days to sneak out to the course one last time, but we are now in the throes of winter.

But just because you can’t get to the course doesn’t mean your game has to suffer. There are plenty of ways to keep your game in shape in the warmth of your home that’ll have you ready to hit the ground running come spring. One of the best ways to do this is by working out.

You might be wondering what types of workouts are best for golf, and that’s what we’re here for. In order to play your best, you need a strong core and a stable base. If you can strengthen your abs and legs during the offseason, you’ll see tremendous gains on the course in 2021.

In order to work on both those muscle groups, try some single-leg deadlifts. They’re great for strengthening your core muscles as well as a variety of muscles in your legs as well. The best part? They can be done from the comfort of your home.

From a standing position, take a weight in one of your hands. Next, stick out your leg behind you (on the same side of your body as the weight) and bend from the waist. Go all the way to the ground, balancing on one leg. Then, use your leg and core muscles to return to the start position.

In order to do the exercise correctly, you should try to keep your arm with the weight in it tight and engaged with the side of your body. If done properly, you will be working out key muscle groups that are crucial for building a powerful swing.
