Bryson DeChambeau’s mission to get “huge” began last October. By December, he had clearly bulked up — and fast.
He used Greg Roskopf’s Muscle Activation Techniques training method to add muscle, but DeChambeau had another secret up his sleeve: Orgain Protein, which he’s mentioned before on some of his popular livestreams. So we decided to check it out.
For starters, if you want to bulk up, you have to workout a lot. You also have to eat a ton, too. And you can’t just eat anything — you really need to eat high quality lean protein to feed your muscles, which can be hard to do when you’re relying solely on regular meals. While meat, fish, poultry and legumes are all high in protein, they still leave a gap.
That’s where a protein supplement comes in. For DeChambeau, his protein of choice happens to be Orgain, an organic, high-quality, clean and delicious supplement. Whether or not you are trying to bulk up like DeChambeau, protein is incredibly important for golfers, according to Orgain’s registered dietician, Acacia Wright.
“Maximizing the nutrient density of a golfer’s diet is key for supporting optimal performance,” Wright told GOLF.com.
Wright recommends consuming 1.2-2.0 grams of protein per kilogram of bodyweight per day, depending on your training level. She also suggests consuming 20-30 grams of protein three to four hours before playing golf.
For those of you with early tee times, Wright says, “If it’s not practical to consume a meal three to four hours beforehand, consume a balanced snack 30-90 minutes before playing golf providing 10-20 grams of protein.”
Orgain offers a variety of products for adults and kids, including protein shakes, powders, bars and more. Orgain’s website even lets you shop by goal, so whether you’re looking to lose weight or build muscle like DeChambeau, they’ve got something for you.
With DeChambeau announcing on a recent livestream that he wants to hit 270 pounds, we’re sure he will be adding plenty of Orgain protein bars, shakes and powder to his daily routine.
Given the positive impact protein can have on your body and you game, you might consider doing the same.
