There's an easy fix for fat and thin strikes with your irons.

Fat and thin shots erode your confidence, to say nothing of your scores. 

Here’s a fix: Using foot spray (see above) or even the sharp end of a tee, draw a line on the practice range grass. Set your ball on the line. Address it with the center of your chest open (i.e., pointed slightly in front of the ball). 

Now swing. Your goal is to make a divot in front of the line. Do that and all your strikes will be on the money.
