A new season has Cleveland launching its brand-new RTX 6 wedges this week in the desert — and the new wedges look as sharp as their grooves. As with the previous generation RTX ZipCore, the first look we are getting of the RTX 6 is of the raw Tour Rack — a raw version of the wedge that launched with the previous RTX ZipCore.

Based on the branding, it’s safe to assume Cleveland’s Tour-crafted custom program will continue into 2023 when the scoring tools hit retail.

The most noticeable change from the previous RTX Zipcore is the shift from a more pronounced weight pad on the toe — to help center and raise the CG (center of gravity) — to a progressive taper that’s similar to the wedge designs from several manufacturers.

This progressive taper creates a cleaner look on the back and for the style junkies out there, a bit more room for stamping. From a practical performance perspective, the thicker back should help reduce overall structural vibrations upon impact higher on the face and was likely made to help improve feel.

We don’t have any more technical details about a possible groove design change but we will continue to follow this story as more details become available.
